With momentum created by the museum’s latest Strategic Plan, TMA partnered with Madhouse to reimagine the annual report through the lens of belonging. Madhouse crafted a smaller, more intimate report that shares the stories of the TMA community and extends the brand into an exciting visual direction.

The report continues on a custom microsite, which includes extended report information as well as video interviews of the individuals featured in the print edition. Leveraging the digital format increases access to the report and allows the museum’s best stories from the year to live well beyond a singular physical space.
From Egypt to Toledo

The Toledo Museum of Art called on Madhouse to design and market their special installation featuring Egyptian artifacts and mummies.
Alongside showcasing Egyptian culture, the museum looked to spark a larger community dialogue on the ethics and conservation concerns surrounding the display of mummies in cultural institutions. Madhouse worked with TMA to balance education and celebration — creating an interactive and informative exhibition experience.
I Approve This Message

The Toledo Museum of Art engaged Madhouse as a primary design partner for this exciting new exhibition. The exhibition was designed to help museum-goers decode political television ads, using visual literacy tools, to find out what motivates them to vote — pride, anger, fear, or hope.
Madhouse was also hired to design a limited edition I Approve This Message screen-printed poster, t-shirts and totes, enamel lapel pin, notebook and pencil pack, stickers and buttons.
